Navigation — Where do we stand today?

The establishment of a Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE) has become a cornerstone for enterprise organizations venturing into the realm of the public cloud. The still proceeding digital transformation with its changes can only be mastered by a well-functioning CCoE. The CCoE takes over the tasks which are completely logical and which spring to mind first, e.g. taking over the financial steward of cloud resources and budget management, managing the hyperscaler relationships, laying the foundation for secure and compliant cloud environments through meticulously crafted landing zones and account vending machines, being the repository for cloud knowledge and best practices or even assisting on cloud architecture.

Most CCoEs are in a phase where they are running their services stably. But they lack ideas to move the needle forward. They feel somehow stuck.

In this series, you’ll get three ideas for improving your Cloud Center of Excellence to create an even more secure and greener cloud landscape in order to empower your internal cloud application owners.

The unkept promise (Cloud Governance)

At the very beginning of our CCoE journey, there was this presentation of these Cloud Adoption Frameworks (CAF). Wasn’t there a mention of something called “Cloud Governance”? Unfortunately, that’s still on our to-do list!

Is it the same for you? In this part, I explain why cloud governance is finally necessary in the context of SaaS and AI.

Security Showback

Many public cloud participants and among them many newcomers. Many new PaaS services that no one has used before and for which no best practices or ready-made catalog items are available. No uniform indicator of the extent to which cloud applications follow the hyperscaler standards.

It is time to offer a “Security Showback”. You are doing “Cloud Cost showback” already? In this part I will explain on how to introduce a security showback to your cloud application owners.

Cloud footprint

Many initiatives to identify and reduce the company-wide carbon footprint. We’ll leave IT out of this for now. We would like to run our company homepage carbon neutral. Is that possible? Can IT help us to get carbon negative?

In this part I explain how the CCoE as an element of the IT can help support corporate sustainability initiatives with data and technical solutions.
