The CORTM Excellence and Milestone Award recognizes IHSA CORTM certified firms that have achieved injury free milestones over the past 3 years in relation to their company size.

Metrolinx, Region of York, Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) and others have adopted the COR standard to verify contractor firms have implemented an effective health and safety management system qualifying them ahead of others to bid work.

  • workplaces are actively pursuing the COR certification

… This award makes me proud of our whole company for the strides we have made as a team in creating a culture that embrace safe work practices. It is an honour to be recognized for all the hard work and focus we put into our safety management systems and processes.”

— President Aldo Paganelli

Toronto Zenith maintains this level of excellence with stringent safety training, as a company we require all their employees to update their safety training as follows:

  • Workplace Hazardous Material Information Systems (WHMIS)- Every Year
  • Workplace Awareness in 4 steps- Every Year
  • Supervisor Awareness in 5 steps- Every Year (supervisors only)
  • Working at Heights- Every Three (3) Years
  • Traffic Control (as often as traffic manuals are updated)

Toronto Zenith requires all workers and subcontractors’ staff to complete a site specific safety orientation. In order to standardize this process, Toronto Zenith is currently developing an electronic learning module. This e-learning module will have information and a video component. Once workers complete the module they will be prompted to answer questions related to the company’s health and safety program to ensure they understand it.
