Questions for Buhari

How is it beneficial to all for key aspects of national resource governance to be concentrated at central rather than constituents level?

How is it beneficial to all to adopt an attitude of silence over a national civil war rather than frontally deal with the history and learn relevant lessons?

How is it beneficial to all to accept the state execution of the leadership of an ethnic nationality in connection with agitation for local resource control rather than as a national tragedy demonstrated by instituting local autonomy?

How is it beneficial to all to ratify by silence the cancellation of a duly conducted democratic process and death of the principal actor in the custody of the Nigerian state rather than offer loud official apologies and do reparations where possible?

How is it beneficial to all to assuage the effects of militant uprising undertaken by MEND and Boko Haram militia groups representing socio-political interests of their communities rather than deal honestly with the root causes?

Here are some watershed moments in the journey of Nigeria. Similar pivots on our national timeline as a people demonstrate the same governance structure issue.

These questions are directed at the entrenched interests and persons entrenching the current system of government in Nigeria. These include past and current actors in government and business represented by current president, Muhammadu Buhari and current lever of Nigerian business, Aliko Dangote.

I am open to your opinions on these questions. I am also open to your reframing the arguments to suit alternative viewpoints so long as you present a win-win position for all, not just a segment of the population.

If you do not have convincing answers to these questions in the judgment of dispassionate minds, then it’s only fair to demand that we begin the very daunting undertaking of restructuring the system of government of this highly strategic nation. Let’s evolve a beneficial structure that works. Let’s “build a nation where peace and justice shall reign.”
