Good Morning Beloved!
The Leverage Devotional by Pastor Segun Obadje Ph.D. Be Blessed!
Sunday, May 10: You Are as Healed as Saved!
Isaiah 53:4-5; 1 Peter 2:24
Isaiah 53:4-5 “Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed."
In the Atonement and Substitutionary Work of Christ, salvation from sin and healing from diseases were equally and simultaneously provided for. The same Lord that died for our sins was also beaten for our healing. The opening verse tells us that Jesus Christ, our Substitute, was wounded for our transgressions and bruised for our iniquities; and at the same time that He did all that for us, the chastisement (punishment) of our peace was upon Him and with the stripes that wounded Him we are healed. There is no Atonement of Christ that covered just our sins without covering our sicknesses and diseases. Such Atonement does not exist. Healing from all kinds of diseases is as much a work of grace provided in Jesus’ Substitutionary work for man as salvation from sin. The Atonement which is the platform on which the sinner is saved is the same platform on which the sick is healed. Jesus Christ is the same Saviour as the Healer; He is the Healer and the Saviour.
So, receiving Jesus Christ as Lord in order to be saved from sin’s power is not void of receiving Him as Healer to be saved from the power of diseases; for before sin came into the human race there was no sickness. Sicknesses and diseases are consequences of sin. How then is one saved from sin’s power and one is still under the yoke of sicknesses and diseases, if not for ignorance? How do you justify sicknesses and diseases outside of sin? How do you separate the effect of sin from its cause? Let’s go back to the beginning. How did sicknesses and diseases begin? What was the origin of diseases? Sin, of course! Now, a complete and perfect redemption cannot be from sin alone without including all of its consequences. If you can see that when you were saved, when you became born again, you were healed as much and as well as you were saved, you will not have any reason to accommodate sickness in your body anymore than you will accommodate sin in your life. Beloved, you are as healed as you are saved! If you can’t doubt your salvation, you ought not to doubt your healing! Both the symptoms and the diseases that you ought to bear were placed on Jesus Christ as at when your sins were placed on Him. In the Atonement at Calvary, the provision made for our healing was not subsequent to that which was made for our salvation from sin; they happened at the same time and were made by the same Substitute. Receive your healing now in Jesus Name!
MY SOLID FRONT (YOUR CONFESSION)
In the Name of Jesus Christ, I declare that I am healed as much as I am saved. The same Lord Jesus Christ, my Substitute, who died for my sins was wounded for my healing. When I became born again and was recreated to become a new creature in Christ, that was when I was healed. Just as much as I know that I am saved, I am healed also! Hallelujah! Amen.
