Failing to reach Hacker News.

Bitcoins, Police and Doom.

At this moment the trending topics on Hacker News include discussions of the looming police state, Doom’s birthday and Bitcoin… Not a single “Show HN” in sight.

I recently submitted my new project AddonList to hacker news with the rather innocuous title:

Show HN: AddonList — services for developers, my weekend project (addonlist.com)

My submission earned 1 point, and about 6 visitors as it slowly slid down the new section. No new signups, nor submission to the list.

The title was accurate, the app was built over the recent weekend and monday night for a touch of polish.

The app seemed like something which would resonate with the HN community. Addonlist is a list of addon services such as MailGun or Stripe which often play a key roll when building an app. I created it simply because the previous proccess of learning about new addons was poor— random googling and word of mouth.
