I deal with negative thoughts by….
1- Urging myself to “find the blessing”, i.e. come up with benefits and “lessons learned” about an undesired outcome and its subsequent emotions. 
2- Thinking of things to be grateful for. 
3- Giving myself a full agenda and “stretch goals” so that there isn’t a whole lot of time for negative thoughts to seep in and gain momentum.
