This quote brings to mind a theory of learning I have studied that I’d like to share with you here.
The Learning Zone Model was originally developed by psychologist Lev Vygotsky but has since been highly popularized. It demonstrates how, in order to learn successfully, we must be challenged. But the balance needs to be just right: if we’re not pushed hard enough, we’re unlikely to step outside our comfort zone, but if we’re pushed too hard, we start to panic and feel overwhelmed. In both cases, the situation becomes counterproductive.
Instead, we need to aim for the “sweet spot” which is called the Learning Zone.
1. The Comfort Zone
