For many of us, it already has been since early childhood. Because we were abused by adults and/or other children, and no responsible adults stepped in to stop the abuse.
I’ve been a survivor and a warrior since I was three years old. I’ll never be anything else. And I wouldn’t want to be.
It seems you really have no idea how good my generation is at surviving. We’ve had no choice but to learn, given the generation that raised us.
Just because you can’t recognize strength and power the way it manifests in us doesn’t mean we are weak. It only means you’ve stopped learning how to look at the world from a different perspective. That’s sad, really. You’re ultimately the one missing out on an opportunity to grow. But that’s your choice.
My generation is hardly fine. But we’ll survive as long as we can on this planet your generation will even now not stop destroying. Assuming we don’t die as part of the new mass extinction that we’ve caused and the devastation it will cause to ecosystems around the world, our species will only continue to evolve for the better, as we’ve find thus far.
For me, the writing on the wall is that my generation and Gen Z are more accepting than any before of how necessary empathy and compassion are to surviving as a human being while minimizing how one harms others. It’s very heartening.
How sad that you have such a low opinion of the accomplishments we’re making. Ah well. As Bob Dylan said: The times, they are a’changin’. Please get out of the new road if you can’t lend a hand. Thanks.
