But don’t worry about spoilers, there is much you will need to discover for yourselves in the Toyoverse, this is nothing more than a meticulously crafted introduction for you.Today we will get to know a little more closely about Westan Nakatoshi, the one responsible for creating the first Toyos on Earth H64 and for bringing all the scientists of The First 9 together.
Westan Nakatoshi, the misunderstood prodigy.
So far the premise that served as the foundation for the character of Westan Nakatoshi came from the idea of working with a creative but strong character, determined to spread to the four corners of the planet the magnificent advent that would be the introduction of Toyos as toys to the market (and even to the armed forces, which was left to ████████) of a world far distant from things “as banal” as having a good time with your peers, going out to a public square and having fun.
Another premise that was already introduced in our first videos, where we presented an introduction to the story on which the present of Earth H64 is based, we showed Nakatoshi for the first time next to her — █████████— son, which defined once and for all the idea that Nakatoshi is already living — during the “initial arcs” of Kytunt¹- the role of a mother, acting as a caretaker of a child.
In a world still unknown, we were sure that Nakatoshi █████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████. Nakatoshi would and probably will be the link from the past to a present of repair: the arrival of the new mentors.
However, in the initial arcs to the introduction of the Toyos to Earth H64, their trajectory in a world still so little known quickly became hazy. A fact that also put in check her ability, popularity, her reach as a “renowned scientist” and even more important: her initial archetype. It was with the arrival of the next two regions and with a greater depth of specific elements throughout the toyoverse that we began to see Westan Nakatoshi as a character, as well as her trajectory, in a somewhat better established way:
Nakatoshi transitions between different archetypes. She is the magician, the warrior, the rebel, and also the caretaker. Her role varies according to the narrative, she can be a guiding NPC or the protagonist of her own story, enchanting crowds and gathering around her equally exceptional individuals — like The First 9.
Nakatoshi had a simple and joyful childhood in Kytunt, her privileged background, her head averted, and her passion for Toshiro Kazuya’s automata made her grow up unaware of the cultural wealth around her. Her development as an inventor jumps when she moves to █████, still in her youth, there she goes through one of the most defining events of the Toyoverse thus far: her meeting with Lucido. It is at the ██████████████ that she meets ████████. If we want to maintain verisimilitude with the initial video released, we have to assume that it was in this time interval and in █████ that Nakatoshi had her son. ██████████████████████ and Nakatoshi finds herself threatened along with her son, so she returns to Kytunt.
In Kytunt she reconnects to the values of her people, so important to Earth H64. There Nakatoshi meets her first allies, enemies, has her first challenges and understands her purpose on Earth H64 through the Toyos and the manipulation of a new and powerful energy: the technomystic energy; which can be manipulated through the device we are getting to know more each day: The Heart Bound.
PS¹: I define “initial arcs” as those narrative arcs comprising the beginning of the creation of the Toyos in each of the regions. I will gradually modify these nomenclatures to mirror the historical eras of each region.
