The birthday of a very good friend of mine who died too soon (I cannot describe it any other way) rolled around on Facebook a few months before I deactivated the account. I saw her name. I had already wished her spirit well that morning in my prayers, but seeing it on Facebook unnerved me for some reason.

I felt like it was for her loved ones only, our secret holiday. But, I could not bear to unfriend her page, could not bear to say goodbye again.

Peace to you, Meg. A special happy birthday to your loved one’s spirit from Jernee and I.
