I do not recall the book, the author or the genre that got me hooked on reading, but, like you, once started I couldn’t stop. I went to school without my shoes one because I was committed to the story I was reading. I used to want to walk (45 minutes) to school over getting a lift from my mum, who had to go there anyway, just so I could spend that time reading while I walked.
I took book to family diners and hid them under the table, I took them to work and his them in the loo. If I could find a two second space in my day to read, I would.
Books are more then entertainment, more then distraction or escapism, they are sustenance.
