While I understand the point trying to be made, there are two problems — first, trying to compare Southerners fighting to break from the Union and Nazi mass murderers is ridiculous. Apples and oranges. Secondly, these statues have been around for 100+ years and only now is “having to look at it or purposefully avoid it” become an issue. None of these is a legitimate reason to remove statues. Everyone can find some statue or work of art somewhere that they don’t like for a myriad of reasons — this does not justify removing them, and people are free to purposefully avoid if they wish.
