“When is your freaking app out?” asked friends and colleagues. Soon, I reply. “That’s what you said the last time “, they countered back. And that people is how the story of most tech entrepreneurs goes. The journey is so unpredictable with deadlines being missed over and over again; a crazy bug stopping a feature from working perfectly thus rendering more time that can’t be afforded, into rectifying the problem.

The more I linger into the entrepreneurial world, especially tech entrepreneur the more I’m finding out why it isn’t most people’s cup of tea. It is just damn HARD. I’ve yet to meet anyone in the tech scene who had spewed out a deadline that was met — NEVER! It just doesn’t happen. Too many variables and unforeseen circumstances in making that deadline a reality.

It is fucking hard

And this is talking from a perspective of companies that comprises of full-time employees and teams dedicated to the task at hand without any distractions. Now see it from a point of view where majority of the team members are working part-time on a project and you can now understand why many (over 90%) individuals and teams give up before their idea see the light of day.

Bottom line is: if you want to dabble into the tech entrepreneurial scene (mainly software development), you’d better cultivate the habit of being tenacious with a strong mental attitude — You will be needing them. When individuals whose been there and done it, tells you the journey is difficult — multiply that difficulty by a hundred with a dose of sleepless nights and you will have yourself the journey of a tech entrepreneur.

Need more than passion

One needs more than a passion to make the journey a success. You need to know that you’re creating something valuable that can disrupt thus improving the way people use a certain tool or software. And be ready to accept criticism and iterate the idea numerous times (this is where people’s tenacity get tested a lot) before having a product that might enhance people’s life or enjoyment.

At TrackBeat.me, we truly believe we are developing both a web/mobile app that will improve the way we discover and listen to music. As I’ve written above, we’ve missed countless of deadlines and we would still miss countless deadlines in the future (one must accept that fact for sanity sake — lol). However what’s pushing myself and the team is the notion that we are creating something valuable that can have an impact within the tech music sphere.

So to my friends and colleagues who keep asking when will the app be launched? My reply is, we are near, yet so far! Bear with us.
