The Green Party’s Troubling Stance on Sex Work
Emily Pothast

You want to change patriarchy? Then you should be empowering women to have a voice in the discussion. Sex workers are being paid to shut their mouths and do what they’re told, to ask no questions but just give men what they want. If they ask no questions of their sex partners, they don’t know if these men are married, if they have children, if they have diseases, if they are horrible people, who they are, what they have done. Part of the contract of a sex worker is discretion; they keep the secrets of the men that pay them. The assumption on which all this commerce is based is that sex does not matter. How on earth does anyone arrive at that conclusion? No mother of a child would come to that conclusion.
