Antidepressants “work”. What does work mean? Works generally means “makes you feel better, but does not cure”.

What cures? Unfortunately, cured is not defined for depression. If you cure your depression the cure gets lost. Cures are regularly lost, not just for depression. https://medium.com/@tracykolenchuk/the-lost-cures-a6c7ea159903

As a result, it appears that depression is incurable — but people need something that “works”. Depression is cured by addressing the cause, sometimes intentionally, sometimes by accident. An antidepressant might help someone live long enough to find an accidental or intentional cure, but it does not cure.

Does CBT cure? Sometimes, when it addresses the cause. But if it does, the cure is lost. There are no statistics for depression cured. Cured cannot be proven for depression because cured is not defined. Does talk therapy cure? Sometimes it cures, when it addresses the cause. but… and so on….
