We would like to inform you that KICK is delisted effective immediately.
The reason for this is simple, KICK team decide to Initiate a function in their token contract to claim back all tokens from the trade.io hot wallets. If you are wondering how this is possible allow us to explain.
Their token KICK has been designed with an admin function that allows the operator to move “client” funds. As you can understand trade.io could do nothing to prevent such behavior.
We did contact immediately KICK team to have this solved, as we deeply care about our clients and we want to protect their funds. Unfortunately, the response we received was the following:
“None of our community, nor official team been aware or informed of the delisting. You only made an announcement to your community. So, while we are studying the case, the necessary steps have been taken to prevent dump and panic sell.”
A few users were asking repetitively why we decide to delist KICK in the first place and not to support their swap. We did not want to get into details but what happened today could be a form of an answer to the reason.
To conclude this, we regret to inform the KICK token holders on our exchange that 2.5 million were removed without our consent. As a result, Trade.io does not have any KICK tokens in our custody and you will need to direct any questions to the KICK team to retrieve any KICK tokens that you may be owed.
We obviously did not and do not support these sort of unilateral seizures of tokens. Going forward we will make this an explicit requirement for all listed tokens that this type of behavior will not be allowed or tolerated. We regret that this event has made it so that we will need to create a legally binding clause to address what we consider to be unthinkable.
