Jungle Tiger Moments
An offer to go meet a new group of people.
When your boss asks for someone to volunteer to run lead on a new project.
Sitting next to someone on an airplane.
Trying out for the team.
Applying for a new job or promotion.
These are all jungle tiger moments — moments that are out of our comfort zone, full of uncertainty, involve a little risk and discomfort, and a potential for failure.
When we face these moments we have a simple choice:
A) Get our jungle tiger on and jump into them
B) Hide in our zoo (AKA comfort zone)
The jungle tiger will always out learn and develop a zoo tiger because of the environment it lives in. The wild is full of struggles, obstacles, challenges, and danger — and it is from that that the zoo tiger learns. The zoo is easy, safe, and absent of struggle — which is why the zoo tiger does NOT learn.
Tigers don’t have a choice in the matter — they either live in the zoo or live in the wild.
We do have a choice.
The wild is all around us and it’s up to us to decide if we’re going to embrace that or hide.
Which tiger are you going to be today?
See you tomorrow,
Train Ugly.
