Every morning I received a push notification about hi trant. It was proof that my day was starting. I have no idea what the deal is lately. What happened to those random, infrequent, push notifications? Now all I see are push notifications when someone follows me. That is boring. I don’t need that.
Granted the push notifications about stories had absolutely no rhyme or reason, but I liked getting them.
There are several operating systems, and platforms that I use. I get to see all of the inconsistencies. I use Android on my Motorola X, Ubuntu Mate with Firefox on my desktop, a couple old Lenovo Thinkpads running on Windows with Firefox as the web browser, and an Ipad. My favorite is my desktop. That runs the best, and has the most ease of use.
Here is what I would like to see work consistently across all of these operating systems. Remember to keep a smile on your face as I make these suggestions. Mindfulness!
- Three fourths of the movies on Netflixs are crap I never watched when I had cable. Oh, wait, that’s not your problem. Ok, ok, let me start over.
- A live stream of original (not responses) content from everyone including people I do not follow. Sure it will be a wild flood, but it would be cool as all get out. You could let us have a separate tagging system for it. Like we could just have a flow of “Life Lessons”.
- The “For You” feed is fucking broken. I have no other way to put that. I can’t cushion that blow. What I think is stinky and dumb. I don’t like that I have to scroll TWICE to get past the first array of stories. Yeah, you know. You scroll past all the crap, and then you get to the end of whatever you aren’t reading, and then FUCK you are right back at the top. WHYYYYY?
- The Ringer, ugh. So many stories from The Ringer! I like some of their stuff. But it’s comes in chunks, and blocks, and then I have to scroll and scroll and scroll. I don’t think you can control that, but I just felt like complaining.
- Stats, sure, sure, people warn you about not checking them. They say you will just be sad. I like to pop in. I like to see where people get referred from. I like that. I also like that on my phone it gets displayed in a completely different manner which has it’s own helpful readability. Here’s the new issue. I get like ten stories to look at. The last ten things I “published”. That’s it. It no longer scrolls. NO SCROLLING!
- I, probably we, need a way to get to stories from people we follow a lot. What can be done that maybe I could put a check next to certain people? It would pool those people into a special feed. Some people have taken to using bookmarks for this, but I am weird. I use bookmarks to put aside stories I plan to read later. I can’t have that stuff mixed up.
- Here’s a weird one. When I get a notification on the bell, I have to open a new tab to see it. Like if I stay on that tab, and click on the bell, it will not show the new notification. But if I open a new tab I always get to see the new notification. That’s with Ubuntu Mate.
- I understand that the “for you” feed takes into account recommends from people I follow. Here is the other thing about the “for you” feed. I don’t know why it is not more in tune with the people I read all the time. At least it does not feel that way. Sometimes I see something two, three, four days later. I like to keep up with them! Which just feeds back into the need for a feed that I can pick and choose who goes there.
- This is a compliment. The new themes are cool. The fact that they change fairly regularly is nice. Keep up the good work!
- One more complaint about issues with the phone app. I am having the same problem with my profile as I am with my stats. I used to be able too see my entire profile on the phone app. Now it gets so far, and flips around, and then it enters a loop. The same issue exists when I look at other profiles.
