Trans kids will suffer, that’s the point.

Last year the Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, announced his plan to protect children from ever taking up smoking. According to the Government’s figures, smoking is the biggest preventable killer in the UK and is the cause of around 1 in 4 cancer deaths (roughly 64,000 in England alone). Sunak’s plan was relatively simple, anyone born on or after 1st January 2009 will never be able to be sold tobacco products, with the legal smoking age essentially being increased year by year until it covers the entire population, except, of course, those who don’t smoke all the time but enjoy a ciggie when they go out for drinks with the lads… they can still buy tobacco.

At least, I think I’ve got that right.

I’m being facetious, of course, because I’m not sure how else to be. It just seems very inconsistent, in my mind at least, for someone to believe wholeheartedly that a certain product is so dangerous its use must be halted, and yet simultaneously believe that it should still be used by people who will be using it in precisely the same way as the people you believe need to be stopped from using it in the first place… call me old-fashioned, I don’t think that makes much sense.

And yet, here we are, and NHS England has officially announced that puberty blockers will no longer be prescribed by gender identity clinics because… well, I’m not sure I’m sure really. I keep being told that it isn’t about targeting trans people, and yet to my eyes it appears that trans people are the only group who won’t be able to access them. They’ll still be prescribed to cis children who need them for things such as precocious puberty, endometriosis, prostate cancer, and breast cancer, just not for children with gender dysphoria. This is an odd choice because, well… as the gender critics have very helpfully pointed out, there are millions upon millions of people regretting their transition every year [citation needed], and prescribing puberty blockers to children showing signs of gender dysphoria allows them to better explore that before the irreversible effects of puberty alter their bodies forever.

I mean, this is madness! If we really do want to stop gender ideology from brainwashing our children into transing themselves, then puberty blockers are an effective and important tool for that. What’s more, it’ll make biological women and girls safer because someone who was prescribed puberty blockers as a child won’t have gone through gross, icky, smelly male puberty and therefore won’t have produced as much predatosterone… sorry, testosterone, and thus won’t be a threat to anyone ever, and will like pink, and play with dolls, and make lots of daisy chains. Me do science.

Try and paint it any way you want, it’s painfully obvious that this move by NHS England is simply bowing down to the gender-critical cult. There is no justification in science or academia for this move, and to be as blunt as possible, anyone who claims there is is lying. If anything, the evidence proves the total opposite of what the gender critics are claiming but, well… let’s not pretend they ever let the truth get in their way before, shall we?

Maria Caulfield, the Health Minister, said, “Ending the routine prescription of puberty blockers will help ensure that care is based on evidence, expert clinical opinion, and is in the best interests of the child,” but, erm… isn’t that kinda the point of the blockers in the first place? It allows children and their doctors to explore their gender identity and ensure that they have chosen the right path for them moving forward. Removing them as an option (except through clinical trials, which is a whole other problem) is akin to force-feeding someone a meal they don’t even like and are maybe allergic to because, well… people gotta eat, yo, it’s bAsIc BiOlOgY.

It’s probably worth noting that TONIC — the independent organization specializing in public consultation, social research, and evaluation that was commissioned to report on the findings of the public consultation on these proposed changes — found that 82% of respondents felt the potential impact had failed to be appropriately considered, while 72% felt that NHS England had failed to consider all appropriate evidence, and yet they chose to push forward with this anyway.

As if all of this weren’t ridiculous enough, there are currently fewer than 100 people who have been prescribed puberty blockers in England, and just to put that in a little perspective, according to the Sunday Times rich list, there were 177 billionaires in the UK in 2022… that’s nearly double! This is the scale of the supposed ‘threat’. There are nearly twice as many billionaires as children who are being prescribed puberty blockers, and yet I don’t see any of the gender-critical brigade calling to ban those fuckers… but they should…

In the end, as is almost always the case, it is ultimately trans people who will suffer. In this case, trans children. There’s little point in highlighting the irony in all of this, the fact that the very demographic the gender criticals proclaim to want to protect are the ones who will be most impacted and harmed by this won’t stop them from gleefully celebrating their ‘win’. And ultimately, that’s what all this boils down to. While for trans people we’re talking about our lives, for those who hate us and seek to remove us from society, this is little more than a game. It’s a flex, and opportunity to enforce their ideology on the rest of the world. They demand that everyone fit within their rigid definitions, and they don’t care who they harm to get to that point.

The fact of the matter is that people will die before this is done. Or should that be, more people? People already have died, trapped on wait lists, unable to get help, and murdered by those who spout the anti-trans rhetoric… the gender critical movement has blood on its hands, provable and undeniable blood, and still they don’t care. They will never care. Why would they? To them, we’re less than human, and watching us suffer and be in pain is all part of their game.

What we need to understand is that while they may claim they’re protecting women and girls, while they may clutch their pearls and scream about how someone needs to think of the children, while they might use words like ‘mutilation’ and ‘brainwashing’ and ‘irreparable harm’, absolutely none of it, not a single letter, means anything close to what they really want. For the cult of the gender-critical, the only acceptable result is the complete and total eradication of trans people. Yes, trans kids will suffer, but that’s not a worthwhile argument for the gender-critics because that’s the whole point. They want trans kids to suffer, because they want trans kids to disappear entirely, and while they know they can’t just line us up and shoot us (yet…), they can target us, take away our ability to be trans in public, and make us all but invisible. We can see this clearly here. If you really thought puberty blockers were dangerous, you’d ban them across the board, like smoking.

But they won’t, and they won’t even pretend to call for that. Because they don’t believe puberty blockers are dangerous, they believe trans people are… in their minds we’re the cigarettes (and that’s horribly ironic given what we call cigarettes here in the UK… iykyk) and we’re what needs to be banned. Of course, they can’t come right out and say that, and so we get the excuses, the never-ending parade of ridiculous claims and inconsistent arguments. But make no mistake, that is what they want, and so long as the country keeps barrelling down this path, it’s going to get a whole lot worse before it gets better. Stay safe, folks.
