Apple Rumored to Increase Price of iPhone Pro Max for iPhone 15 Launch
In the lead-up to the official unveiling of the iPhone 15 lineup, rumors are circulating about Apple’s plans for the Pro Max model. Analyst Jeff Pu from Haitong International Tech Research has shared insights into what consumers can expect from the highly anticipated flagship device.
According to Pu, Apple is considering a price increase for the iPhone Pro Max. This would mark the first time since its initial release in 2018 that the Pro Max variant sees a hike in its starting price. The current price point for Pro Max models stands at $1,099, and it seems Apple is looking to adjust this figure to reflect the advanced features and technology of the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
One notable feature exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro Max is a periscope lens, which enables optical zoom capabilities of up to 6x, surpassing the 3x zoom found in the iPhone 15 Pro. This enhancement is expected to further differentiate the Pro Max as the premium offering in the iPhone 15 series.
In terms of production, Apple aims to manufacture around 84 million iPhone 15 units during the second half of this year. This represents a 12% increase compared to the production volume of the iPhone 14 series in the same period last year. The significant production numbers indicate Apple’s confidence in robust demand for the latest iPhone lineup.
One reason for Apple’s optimism is the large number of existing iPhone users who have not upgraded their devices in the past four years. It is estimated that around 25% of iPhone users fall into this category, creating a sizable potential customer base with latent demand for the new iPhone models.
Looking ahead, Pu also shared some insights into the future iPhone 16 lineup. The iPhone 16 series is expected to incorporate “metalens” technology in its proximity sensor, potentially leading to a reduction in the size of the Face ID hardware. Additionally, the iPhone 16 will support Wi-Fi 7, offering faster and more reliable wireless connectivity.
Rumors surrounding the iPhone 15 series indicate several other notable features across the lineup. These include increased battery capacities for extended usage, a shift to USB-C ports replacing the Lightning port, and the introduction of the Dynamic Island design in non-Pro models. Pro models, on the other hand, are rumored to feature titanium sides and an action button replacing the mute switch. Both the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max will be powered by the highly anticipated 3nm A17 Bionic chip, positioning them as industry-leading devices in terms of processing power.
As the iPhone 15 launch draws closer, Apple enthusiasts eagerly await the official announcement regarding the date of the product introduction event. In addition to the iPhone 15 series, there is anticipation for the potential unveiling of the Apple Watch Series 9 and the second-generation Apple Watch Ultra. However, it is not expected that the next-generation AirPods will be part of this year’s September event.
