San Francisco, CA. May 2020 — Urban tech startup Trash Warrior has announced it raised an over-subscribed $1.2M pre-seed round to accelerate the growth and development of its on-demand waste management platform.

Trash Warrior launched in beta in September 2019 to provide more reliable, affordable, on-demand waste management solutions to business clients. This investment offers Trash Warrior the resources needed to accelerate its product development, expand sales and marketing, and launch new markets.

Altair VC led the round. Other investors include Lightspeed Venture Partners, 500 Startups, Alumni Ventures Group, LombardStreet Ventures, etc. Trash Warrior was in the Spring 2020 batch of 500 Startups, a highly selective startup accelerator. TechCrunch mentioned TrashWarrior as one of its favorites out of 500 Startups’ latest Demo Day.

Led by CEO Lily Shen, a tech veteran with professional experience and commitment in the public and social sectors, Trash Warrior has the ambition to bring revolutionary changes to waste management — an archaic, underserved, but vital industry. Shen recently shared her experience as a female founder in this 500 Startups’ interview.

While the company is still young, the business model sees validation in excellent customer reviews and fast growth in revenue. The over-subscribed pre-seed fundraising amid a global pandemic is on its own a testimony to the strength of the company.
