Ratargul Swamp Forest

Ratargul, the famous Amazon forest of Bangladesh, is located in Goainghat upazila of Sylhet district. What is called Ratargul Swamp Forest in English. It is the only freshwater wetland forest in Bangladesh, one of only 22 freshwater wetland forests in the world. Thousands of local and foreign tourists visit here every year. Also during the winter the guest birds that visit here will blow your mind in no time.

Ratargul is about 26 km from Sylhet district city. It is spread over 30,326 km and covers 508 acres of forest and the rest is covered with small water bodies. The forest is under 5 to 10 feet of water throughout the year, but during the monsoons it is inundated by 20 feet to sometimes 30 feet.
