8/5–8/8 The Team
The next big step was to recruit my team. From the beginning, I had a clear vision of what checkmate would look like, but I did not know what the small steps preceding it were. All I knew for sure was that I needed trustworthy friends because the “chess game” would not end in a couple of minutes, but rather a couple of years. The very first person I recruited was Matt. He was a very good friend of mine since middle school and he had more knowledge in app development than I ever will. Next was Kevin. He was a friend that I met during high school who knew more about business and startups than I ever could. Then there is Julian. He was a good friend of mine since middle school, and he has made more videos than I have. I really did not want to teach myself video editing stuff by myself, so I needed Julian for his video production expertise. Next, I needed someone’s assistance on marketing and branding Traveling Toolbox, and the perfect person who fits those criteria is an elementary friend, Jessica. More recently, I recruited my last piece, Devin, who would offer his insight and perspective regarding decisions with Traveling Toolbox. I am most certain that you guys will see them in the future sometime aside from my startup, because they have strengths in their respective areas. As far as recruitment, I literally called each one for about 15 minutes, not only to pitch my idea, but also to catch up. Either way, I was thankful and appreciative that most of the members were accepting and supportive of my endeavors. Yup, you guys are awesome, thanks!
