Dubai Travel Weekend Basics

If you are planning a trip to the United Arab Emirates, it can be hard to know exactly which items to bring and which should be left behind.

Knowing what items you will need most can be an important aspect of any relaxing and carefree vacation to a beautiful world outside of your own. So that your getaway can be spent enjoying the diverse culture of the UAE.

Here are a few important things to pack which will add to the pleasure of your weekend trip.

Appropriate Clothing

Being courteous to the beliefs and norms of other cultures is an attractive quality which displays tolerance and respect.

When visiting the UAE, pack clothing which is well suited to the climate and will blend in well with the culture.

For example, women should consider tops that cover the shoulders and midriff and bottoms which come to the knee when visiting area businesses and tourist attractions. Swimwear is appropriate only when you are on the beach.

A Good Camera or Cell Phone with Charger and Accessories

When going on a weekend trip, always pack a camera and plenty of accessories such as extra batteries and memory cards.

If your camera operates with the use of a charger, keep in mind that most accommodations will feature the British three prong power outlet so you may need to purchase an inexpensive adapter upon arrival.

In today’s world, many prefer to use their smartphones rather than carry a camera around. You will need an unlocked GSM cell phone and a prepaid SIM card to make calls. The necessary SIM cards can be purchased at airports and most retail stores.

Prescription and Over the Counter Medications

On your weekend vacation to the UAE, you will be far away from your regular doctor so you must pack all the medicine you will need for the entire stay plus a couple extra days in case of flight delays.

You will need to consider the correct method used to transporting medicine through the airport.

Over the counter medications should also be considered as well as personal toiletries which can be easily purchased at any store. However, there will be primarily British Brands available on most store shelves so if you prefer an American product, bring it along.

Extra Cash

Travelling to the UAE is a safe and rewarding adventure and it is likely you will not have any problems during your weekend visit.

However, it is never a bad idea to have a small stash of money tucked away safely in your luggage for emergencies or to use for impulse purchases. Although Dirhams is the local currency, there are opportunities to spend other world currencies.

Lastly, bringing the correct attire, a camera, proper medications, and some extra money will ensure your trip is an enjoyable and positive experience that you will be able to remember and share with others.
