Ultra Music Festival Miami: 7 Places to Stay Perfect for Groups

Got your ticket to Ultra Music Festival 2017 in Miami? Time to find your accommodation. From chic hotels on the beach to affordably luxurious pads, we round up seven accommodations perfect for small groups during Ultra.

Let’s face it, as far as electronic music festivals go, Ultra Music Festival Miami is one of world’s best. While most of us dwell over past music festivals filled with mud, wellies and pop-up tents, it’s nothing but sunny skies and fancy hotels in ‘the magic city’.

Ultra Music Festival will be as big as ever in 2017 featuring headliners like The Prodigy, Carl Cox and David Guetta. If you haven’t got a ticket but are heading to Miami at the end of March, tickets are still available via Viagogo. Better yet, the festival isn’t the only place to party in Miami during March. With spring breakers flocking to the city at this time of year, you should expect nothing less than a lively atmosphere in most of the hotels, bars and clubs — hence the importance of a nice, comfy bed when you visit.

Whether you’re looking for a luxury hotel, a budget option to keep costs down or an apartment within easy reach of the festival’s location — Bayfront Park, we should have you covered with these seven accommodations that are ideal if you’re travelling in a small group.

Location: 485 Brickell Ave, Downtown Miami

  • 15 minute walk from Ultra Music Festival’s location of Bayfront Park.
  • Luxurious hotel featuring the longest WET infinity pool in Florida.
  • Super classy suites that can accommodate up to five people.

Boasting a 300-foot infinity pool on Biscayne Bay, a lounge with a private rooftop pool and kitted-out contemporary rooms, the W Miami is one of the best hotels to stay if you’re seeking a little luxury near the heart of the action. With hotels dotted all around the world, the W brand has earned worldwide reputation for delivering high quality accommodation. Prices here aren’t cheap but place four or five people in one suite and this hotel becomes much more affordable for the average holidaymaker. The W South Beach is another of the brand’s nearby hotels but you’ll find it to be more expensive. Besides, W Miami has a bigger pool anyway, and there’s nothing like a refreshing dip when you’re hungover.

Location: 110 SW 12 ST 1807, Brickell

  • Enjoy the comfort of your own private apartment complete with a balcony.
  • Next to Brickell Metromover station which leads to a station close to Bayfront Park.
  • Shared facilities include a swimming pool, fitness centre and hot tub.

If you and your party would prefer the comfort of your own pad, an apartment is a great option. You’ll find many in Brickell — an urban neighbourhood directly below Downtown Miami. The apartments at Brickell 1st by VacationDistrict are among our favourites, especially if you’re heading to Ultra Music Festival as you can jump on the metro and reach Bayfront Park in no time at all. Alternatively, walking from here will only take you around half an hour. These one and two bedroom apartments can sleep up to four people, are adequately furnished to a high standard and will cost you less than most hotels in the area. A cable flat-screen TV, free WiFi, free parking and a communal swimming pool are just some of the excellent benefits of the Brickell 1st by VacationDistrict apartments.

Location: 146 Biscayne Boulevard, Downtown Miami

  • Right on top of Bayfront Park.
  • Home to Biscayne Tavern which serves artisan cocktails and seasonal craft beers.
  • Contemporary rooms sleep up to four guests.

Want to be as close to the festival as possible? You won’t get much closer than the YVE Hotel Miami. This contemporary, boutique hotel is adjacent to the Bayside Marketplace and Bayfront Park placing you a stone’s throw from the world’s biggest EDM artists and DJs during Ultra Music Festival. Here you’ll find rooms complete with flat screen TVs, a petite bathroom and two double beds so you can pack four people into one room and keep accommodation costs down. Head downstairs and there’s also an American pub with a tasty food and drinks menu, perfect for those who want to line their stomach or enjoy a few pre-drinks before heading to the festival.

Location: 270 Biscayne Boulevard Way, Brickell

  • Affordably luxurious five-star hotel just 10 minutes from the beach.
  • Walking distance to Ultra Music Festival’s location of Bayfront Park.
  • Facilities include two 16th-floor rooftop pools and a 12000-square foot spa.

Coming in at a little cheaper than YVE Hotel Miami and a fair amount less than the W Miami, Kimpton EPIC Hotel is one of the best value-for-money luxury hotels around. You can walk to UIltra’s Bayfront Park location in just 10 minutes and the hotel itself boasts awesome views of Miami River and Biscayne Bay. Its many highlights include a full-service marina and waterfront dining at Area 31 restaurant, rooms that feature floor-to-ceiling windows and a private balcony, and a 12000-square foot spa. Yet guests are most impressed by the 16th-floor pool terrace where you can sip cocktails while taking in the spectacular views. And we haven’t even mentioned the super stylish Lilt Lounge bar where live music and artistic installations create a lively social atmosphere.

Location: 3861 SW 40th Street, Coral Gables

  • Excellent budget option.
  • Reach Ultra’s location of Bayfront Park in 30 minutes.
  • On-site restaurant, gym and swimming pool.

Sometimes it doesn’t matter where you stay as long as you have a ticket to the festival. If you’re on a budget, you’ll probably have to head away from Downtown Miami. We’ve picked out Four Points by Sheraton Coral Gables, not only because it’s super cheap compared to the other selections on our list, but also because it’s only about a five minute walk to Douglas Road train station which takes you to within walking distance of Bayfront Park. Better yet, this pocket-size hotel boasts an on-site restaurant, a pool and a gym, while the rooms sleep up to four people and ooze contemporary style. You might not be on top of the action but at least you’ll have money left over for beers.

Location: 4441 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach

  • Five star luxury hotel with 6 outdoor swimming pools lined with private cabanas.
  • One of Miami’s ultimate party hotels, home to the famous LIV nightclub.
  • Enviable location in Miami Beach just a few minutes walk from the sandy shoreline.

So far we’ve avoided mentioning any accommodation in Miami Beach or South Beach, mainly because travelling to the festival from here will require you to get a cab or the bus which isn’t ideal when you consider festival traffic. However, for those set on staying in Miami Beach, Fontainebleau is one of Miami’s best and most recognised party hotels. Despite its glorious location and five star facilities, it’s actually surprisingly affordable with rooms costing less than those at the W Miami. Needless to say for those festival-goers who want to continue the party back at their hotel, there’s probably no better place than Fontainebleau — home to LIV nightclub which regularly features world class international DJs and artists. Oh, and did we mention it’s also minutes from the beach and likely to be packed with party-mad spring breakers too?

Location: 1685 Collins Avenue, South Beach

  • The ultimate high-end option for those with deep pockets.
  • Emphatic South Beach location just a few minutes from the sandy shoreline.
  • Super stylish decor and facilities including a rooftop Agua Spa.

As we mentioned before with Fontainebleau, although staying in South Beach means you’ll need to take a cab or the Miami Dade Transit MetroBus to reach Ultra festival, this area does have its benefits. Most will consider the Delano South Beach to be out of their price range but others who can afford it believe there’s no need to look anywhere else. At more than double the price of the next most expensive accommodation on this list, it’s no surprise this five star South Beach hotel is a celebrity hotspot. This super chic hotel is one of the best party hotels in Miami and one of the most famous too, attracting a wealth of top DJs (even the swimming pool has underwater speakers). If your money stretches way beyond an Ultra VIP ticket, the Delano is the high-end hotel you’re looking for; this is the place to see and be seen.
