Plus, if we stop searching for what we should get in a relationship maybe we’ll start to pay attention to what we can give. Once we release our potential partner from expectation, we will both be much happier.

Totally agree. Operating from a place of “contribution-first” is its own virtue and pays dividends to you as much as to the person you are pouring into. My relationships (and my experience of them) got much better when I discovered this trick.
