Vision Evolved

How Far We’ve Come

We launched Uber five years ago in San Francisco. It’s remarkable to see how far we’ve come in a short time, and I’m incredibly grateful for the support we’ve received along the way.

Yesterday, I shared our vision for the future with Uber employees, driver-partners and friends.

We got our start because we wanted to make getting around San Francisco a little easier. Today, we’re working to solve some of the biggest challenges cities face: making roads safer, reducing congestion and creating new economic opportunity. As we’ve grown up, our vision has evolved.

Speaking with everyone that attended yesterday’s celebration reinforced the idea that Uber isn’t just a series of algorithms or pixels on a screen. We connect people with other people. We create possibilities and help people reach new destinations. I’m proud of that.

Stories from our community of riders and drivers keep us moving forward. They help us decide where we’re going. And I can tell you there’s a lot more to come.

Watch the video below for more on where we’re headed in the next five years.
