The Program Week 2 Feedback

Well I did it. I trained six days in a row, and I had a lot of fun. I am going to give a quick summary of week 1. If you are here just for next week’s program, you can scroll on down. I ended the week going slightly off script and performing a version of The Shrugged Collective’s “One Ton Challenge”, which is snatch, clean, jerk, squat, bench, and deadlift combined for the goal of 2,000 pounds. When they host the event, they normally give competitors 30 minutes per lift.

Here’s what I did. I used the Power Snatch (mainly because my mobility isn’t 100% yet), Power Clean & Jerk, Front Squat, Bench Press, and Deadlift. I also did it for time to give it an even more challenging parameter. I was able to total 2,002 pounds in 4 minutes via a 95kg/209lb P. Snatch, 125kg/275lb P. Clean, 125kg/275lb Jerk, 185kg/407lb Front Squat, 145kg/319lb Bench Press, and 230kg/506lb Deadlift. Here’s the video:

I started out the week feeling pretty badly due to a cold I was fighting off, but things progressively improved as the week went along. My overhead is coming back faster than I thought it would, but snatching with form that I am happy with will be sometime down the road. Overall I am happy to be training again, and it feels good to be sore and achey. I feel alive again.

Here’s next week’s plan:

Now I am going to be real with all of you right now. There is a chance that I will only get in 4–5 days next week because I have a book deadline for Friday. I have to balance family, God, work, and fitness. I have a commitment to finish this book, and I am going to fulfill that commitment. Now maybe it won’t take me as long as I think. If so, then I will stick with the six day. However, I have a four day version prepared.

For all of you busy souls in the world, here is a peak at that potential four day version:

A five day per week version is probably what I will stick with the most in the following year, so maybe next week I will show you what that would look like. I prefer training six days per week, but right now other goals are going to make that difficult. I have no doubts that I could reach my goals with 4–5 days per week. Heck when I was a world champion, I mainly trained four days per week.

From now until January, my goal is to perfect my time management. The goal is to get a little better every week. For example I am going to batch Instagram Posts today and have them saved. That way I can release them one at a time in just a few clicks. We do the same thing with podcasts. Next week I want to start batching articles. “Batching” saves so much time, and allows you to get in the right mindset and stay there for whatever thing you are attacking at the moment.

I will leave you with a few highlights from the week:

  1. Obviously the One Ton Challenge
  2. 140kg/308lb Clean
  3. Snatch 90kg/198lb x 3
  4. Smooth 230kg/506lb Deadlift

This was just the beginning. I am hoping for a lot more highlights as we roll into the program deeper and deeper. If you have any questions, feel free to ask them here.
