The Holy Quran Experiment: Scripture References and Some Quick Context
Here’s a quick reference guide to the Bible passages used in the video above, along with (a tiny bit of) context.
“You shall eat the flesh of your sons, and you shall eat the flesh of your daughters.”
Leviticus 26:29
God has given the Law to Moses and is establishing Israel as his nation. In this passage He’s walking through what they should expect if they turn away from Him. If they disregard the first wave of bad stuff, He basically tells them…

The verse they read is part of the final “nuclear option” that would only happen after many other attempts to get Israel’s attention and bring them back.
“I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet.”
1 Timothy 2:12
Jump ahead to the New Testament. This is the Apostle Paul (basically seen as the head honcho of the non-Jewish branch of the Church at this time) in a letter to his apprentice, laying out his preferences for how churches should be run. Theologians still debate whether he would have considered this specific to their times and culture, or if it was meant as a universal mandate. This (and similar passages in Paul’s other letters) are the main reason why many churches will not have a woman as their pastor to this day… and why many others brand him a misogynist.
“…then you shall cut off her hand. Your eye shall have no pity.”
Deuteronomy 25:12
This is really the only problem I have with the video. The way it’s edited makes it seem like this and the previous verse were all a single passage, but they’re pretty much at complete opposite ends of the Bible. In this passage, you see the punishment for a situation where two dudes are fighting and the one dude’s wife tries to stop the other dude by grabbing his junk. (Chief takeaway: don’t grab a dude’s junk, that’s fighting dirty.)
“If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them.”
Leviticus 20:13
This is the stereotypical “proof text” against homosexuality. Personally, I feel like this one’s been run into the ground. Just a couple quick notes: it’s the same punishment a heterosexual couple would face for sleeping together if at least one of them was married to someone else (v. 19), and it’s not as bad as the punishment for “taking” both a woman and her daughter: you do that and the three of you would get burned alive (v. 14).
