Have not yet read the whole of their whitepaper, but having their own package manager seems like an interesting concept, if that’s what they’re going for.
But it also doesn’t preclude a more universal package spec (e.g EthPM or similar), since any number of package managers could opt to consume it (see, for example, Yarn/NPM).
But honestly, it may be more helpful for me to repeat the analogy of Satellite as a package repo. So really, if we all use a compatible spec, there is no “walled garden” as such.
Of course, this might not be what ends up happening in the space — there are certainly different package managers between GNU+Linux distributions for example — but one can hope.
What are your thoughts on interoperability and forming cross-chain cross-platform protocol interaction?
I’m all for it! Polkadot, Cosmos, etc. all appear to have great potential.
We also want Melonport to be blockchain agnostic, meaning we want to support as many chains as possible. This would be facilitated by some technology like Polkadot, for instance.
