Ye Social Media Ki Jeet Hai!

From the time I saw Barack Obama winning elections in 2008, I have been a fan of Social Media and since then, a Social Media & Digital Marketing Professional. Obama’s win against Mitt Romney in 2012 was an affirmation of how Social Media has time and again proved him right.

It gives me an immense pleasure to see the similar kind of wave in my country — India via Narendra Modi courtsey — Social Media. He has been a testimony for this industry in India right from the word GO!

His work in his own state — Gujarat has been commendable and has generated a lot of accolades worldwide. And then to be nominated as NDA’s Prime Ministerial candidate was just few miles away.

The most integral part of any Social Media Strategy is how you think about your consumer and where he/she is right now. Modi really understood his consumers — people of India and where they were; giving him an edge to accelarate his mission for 2014.

While others failed to understand & few of them were late to the Social Media party, Modi turns out to be a clear winner to have started his campaign around 2011.

Hence, I am saying — it is Social Media’s win (Ye Social Media Ki Jeet Hai) more than Modi’s win.

To all the brands, my (prospective + current) clients, agencies, personalities, institutions and everyone in India, I want say - Social Media is something that WILL insanely help you and give you what you want. If and only if you BELIEVE that it will, with the right amount of time & energy spent on it.

And now that you know that it has helped, I suggest Political Parties (Including BJP) must must communicate the right message, real learnings and realistic future plans to the most serious and inspiring audience on social media — Young Indians like me!
