If You Want to Be Creative, Don’t Be Data Driven

Your article reminded me of a quote by TS Eliot, penned long before the computer age:

“Where is the wisdom we have lost in knowledge?
Where is the knowledge we have lost in information?”

And we could add, “Where is the information we have lost in data?” He was coming from the “wisdom end” of the DIKW pyramid. As data and tech guys, you and I are coming at it from the “data end”. Data is a foundation, but knowledge and wisdom only come from synthesizing and distilling the layers below. Data is the means to an end, but not the end.
