Tree Fund plants over 200,000 trees across five continents
In accordance with The Fund’s thesis, our community governors voted in early January to pledge the Q4 yield to two tree planting organizations, Trees for the Future and One Tree Planted.
Typically The Fund liquidates the allocated digital assets shortly after a formal vote which are then used to make a formal contribution to the relevant tree planting organization. However, due to the turbulent crypto market, the community opted to pledge the Algos to be liquidated at a later date.
Through our analysis we identified that $0.27–0.3 would serve as a local high. We therefore opted to sell the allocated 26,319.34A on February 21st for a total of 7331.34 USDC. By pledging the Algos rather than liquidating them at the time of the community vote (January 12) we have increased our donation by over 30%.
Through these donations, we have planted an additional 18,278 trees which takes our total to 213,658 trees.

The Gilbert Goanna Tree Planting Fund
The Gilbert Goanna Tree Planting Fund is Algorand’s first dedicated impact fund, administered by the AK Foundation. The capital that is raised via donations and community initiatives is then invested through various de-fi protocols. The generated yield is then used to directly support conservation efforts and tree planting projects around the globe. This innovative approach allows the fund to be truly sustainable both in terms of the projects it supports and also its own longevity.
