Stopping to Listen

I’ve been studying through Proverbs at a snails pace. I decided I’d take a few verses at a time and dig in deeper over the next few weeks, maybe months.

And recently in my reading the same theme has popped up over and over — God’s word is everything and God is always communicating.

One of the last things I wrote down was in regards to listening. Multiple times Solomon writes about how we should listen. Just listen. Listen to the word of God because it’s good, right and nourishing to our bodies.

I’ll be honest, I haven’t done the greatest job of stopping to listen to God in the last few weeks. Sure, I’ve had some good moments in the morning, but once my morning communion with God is over, I rush back into the busyness of life…

So, tonight’s blog is short. I just wanted to remind you of what I’m being reminded of:

God’s word is all powerful. God’s word is superior. God’s word moves us to what is right, pure and noble. God’s word takes care of us. God’s word nourishes us.

But, in order for God’s word to be all of those things to us, we have to stop and listen to His word. Our ears have to be attentive to His speaking.

Throughout the day, I need to stop and ask: “what is God saying right now? What has He been saying? What is He communicating to me, and am I missing it?”

So, let’s join together to do a better job of listening for God’s words in our life. Let’s listen for His nourishment.

Love you:)
