Paul, as an Aboriginal man… are you still reading? What I understand is that many white people and in your case male, have no clue what it means to be in a suppressed minority. It is because that history shows that there is such a divide in understanding and empathy that many feel compelled to give their experience and in doing so begin with “As a Woman/Black/Aboriginal” person.
If you are feeling so oppressed as a white male and you feel that no one understands your plight. Go right ahead and begin with “As a white male…”.
You could write stuff like “As a white male I am thankful that when I go for a job interview that I have a better chance of success than a black person” or “As a white male I feel safe around groups of women because the likely hood of them attacking and raping me is not as high as if I was a woman” or “As a white male working in Thailand they refuse to give me a job due to the colour of my skin” or “As a white male in Thailand, I am constantly pulled over by the police and treated as a criminal because of the colour of my skin” or you could move beyond your life of self entitled white privilege.
