How to Create Your Ideal Job Profile
Part 12 of 12: Leadership Profile
People hire, and sometimes more importantly, promote, people that they view to be like themselves. So, if your goal is to climb that corporate ladder as quickly as possible, it would be in your interest to choose an organization with a leadership profile that you identify with and that will identify with you.
Some people like to be the “first one” to make it through. This is not my style because it feels like a lot of extra work to me. Not only do you have to be good, and many times twice as good, at your job but you also have to be extremely skilled at navigating an environment that is not predisposed to helping or even allowing someone like you to succeed. It is important and honorable work that these people choose to do. It is not easy.
Spend some time on LinkedIn researching the type of leaders who work at the companies you are interested in and see if they are a match.
