I can say that I know of a few white people who constantly are pulled over although one reason is their vehicle does fit the profile of a modern “street racing” vehicle and another guy has a history with law enforcement.
I myself have neither, but still am considered “suspicious” enough to be pulled over at least once every other month. That’s nothing compared to some people, but I guess driving legally in a non-tinted, stickerless, and perfectly functioning Pontiac G6 is cause for the immediate concern of public safety.
I have no criminal record and have one speeding ticket out of the 2 times I was pulled over for actually speeding (which is obviously reasonable). Not to say I haven’t encountered some genuinely good officers or that none of them had honest intentions.
They may be consciously unaware as to why they feel I am a threat to the public, but perhaps are willing to become aware, so I don’t feel they are all bad people. I also don’t feel they are specifically hunting me to harass or oppress, but more than likely they get a moment where they have sneaking feeling of suspicion when seeing me driving the same as they do seeing “street racing” vehicles or known criminals. It may seem normal to them.
They instinctively act without taking a second thought as to why they feel this way. It’s how society has raised some of them to sub-consciously react.
Of course there are the rare few like the one I have had multiple encounters with a who does seem spiteful. The one officer whom each time they aren’t satisfied with their search the more I am afraid they will do something out of frustration. I don’t think this is a black issue solely, but I do think that blacks receive the majority of it.
