There seems to be a common culture among African-Americans that “I feel under-privileged, so I’m…

- “Social norms”… you mean the idealistic image of what an American is?
- The image of what a respectable citizen is?
- The image that is held as the superior standard which is how Americans should live, conduct themselves, and what they should value if they want to be accepted and respected American citizens?
- You mean this “American” image that has derived solely from white Americans traditions, ideals, values, and acceptable social behavior?
- You mean the image that excludes anything that represents the black communities in America?
- Ah I see! So by your logic anything that white Americans feel is not normal is what is most important to be actually be seen as something outside of “social norms” because white Americans opinions and the way they live their lives is the “proper” and “correct” way to stay within “social norms.”
- Duh, blacks are not allowed to create an identity of their own, those silly minorities. Why do they think that white Americans forced them to partake ONLY in white cultural “norms” and to strive to be as close as they can to being just like white Americans.
- It was for their own good because white American cultural is by far the most superior way of living. Black people should be thanking whites for sharing the only perfect way to live life. Some white Americans even let blacks use their names.
- Blacks are so privileged to be identified by the name of the man who more than likely raped, beat, killed, and treated their great great great great great great grandparents lesser than a stray dog. Why would the black community ever want to change anything?
- Obviously if they live, act, think, or even partake in ways of life that contradict white American culture, or God forbid if they partake in ways that are not classified as “social norms” to white Americans way of living.
- Yeah, you’re right! If blacks actually embrace their non-white physical appearance and do anything to create a unique identity leading to a sort of culture of their own then they must be crying for attention! Obviously they are crazy to think of representing themselves as someone whose way of living portrays anything other than being almost exact replicas of white Americans!
- The audacity of blacks to be their own unique culture that is not influenced solely by white Americans whom have self-proclaimed to be the only way to properly live life the “normal” way. If they aren’t “normal Americans” like white Americans are (obviously) and dress in different style clothing, style their hair differently, speak with a different accent, have different perspectives, or different traditions, or anything else that goes against “our American” way of life then they are just ghetto trash!
- Let’s punish them for wanting and creating their own cultural identification by making a mockery of everything that uniquely represents black communities. Their dirty nappy hair! Oh, they tried to name their children with names that also don’t represent white American/European cultural, ha! Tyrone, Jamal, Latisha! What ghetto trash names! Let’s mock them to the point where no-one even takes them seriously and we think the they act socially weird to cry for attention and be victims!
- What’s that? Huh? You mean just because they do many things in a different manner nothing or no-one has any basis or authority to say their way of living is not normal? You mean there can be no self-proclaimed superior way of living that gives America a white cultural standard as to what is or is not a normal way for EVERYONE to socially conduct themselves.
- You mean cornrows and spiked hair with bleach blonde tips are equally acceptable hairstyles for anyone because there is no rational or logical explanation for why black hairstyles, or even overall fashion, are any less respectable or socially acceptable than white Americans hairstyles or sense of fashion?
- Hmmm, I guess there is no more racism in America because no one is ignorant enough to still and treat blacks like they are socially inferior if they are being different than what white people are comfortable with? Oh I am sure all Americans actually respect blacks and their cultural differences as equally acceptable.
- There is no way that any American thinks black Americans different way of living is a complete joke or make black communities into some big mockery with no valid rational reasoning… right? Racism is dead, duh!
