DOGE: A meme from the very beginning

Most of you know that Dogecoin began its life in 2013 as a “joke currency”. The developer, Billy Markus from Portland, was too much interested in Bitcoin. Thanks to the proper studying of cryptocurrencies’ source code, it took him nearly 3 hours to build the new coin. Jackson Palmer from Sydney, Australia, was the one who stood behind his friend and helped him.

So DOGE was named after the popular Shiba Inu “doge” meme. Here’s a sneak pic of it:

It was Atsuko Sato who adopted this Shiba Inu from an animal shelter and took the famous Doge picture in 2010. Some say that it’s even ‘a hybrid between the Mona Lisa and a Shiba Inu’. Later one of the internet users decided to add the Shibe’s possible thoughts all over the photo. That’s how exactly the Doge meme was born.

The meme turned out to be quite funny and memorable. Very soon Dogecoin grew in value as thousands of users supported the currency while posting memes about the coin online. All this attention lead DOGE to the top of cryptocurrencies on the market.

Real dog characteristics for DOGE

Been named after a dog, Dogecoin surely inherited a number of pup characteristics. Can you guess which ones and how many? Let’s count together.

Jump over

Dogecoin skipped their premining stage. As Palmer said, “it was this big joke that would die off”. Yet, the joke did not die. It survived and even made a great comeback, reaching Top-20 of cryptocurrencies.

Digging

And that’s what the fact that we can easily relate to the code. Moreover, the Dogecoin team prefers to use the term ‘dig’ instead of the word ‘mine’, the team developing Dogecoin used ‘dig’. Why? Cause dogs dig haha.

And thanks to the meme creators, Shibas got some hardware to help themselves.

Specific language

Dogs are really expressive beings and they can’t use human language properly (unfortunately, or fortunately, who knows). That’s why the DOGE community uses its specific, adopted language. It’s never grammatically correct, yet, everything is simple and understandable. What is the most important of all, this language is quite funny and popular.

Loyalty

Like every dog is loyal to its owner, every Dogecoin is always loyal to its holder. And that tune come through all the DOGE community:

And if DOGE sometimes faces difficulties while going to the Moon,

it’s OK for the cryptocurrency to become King.

Now you got a chance to taste your DOGE

Today on the memes menu we have:

Different kinds of bread

Shawarma

Pizza

1 DOGE = 1 DOGE

Somewhere in the middle of 2018 was also the time for 1Ð = 1Ð to show up. I think it was caused by the instability of the whole cryptocurrency market, where only DOGE holders managed to find the right idea for support. At least, no one will be against the fact that 1 DOGE is 1 DOGE. Won’t they?

But this one is my favorite:

Well, feel free to share your favorite DOGE memes in the comments.
