Going from good → great → world class

If you ever come across a website that claims to have the formula for you to become world class at anything, we suggest you turn around and run away as quick as possible. At the very least, put your wallet away so you aren’t tempted to buy the latest and greatest vaporware.

Just think about it. If there were some playbook that could make you world class, and all you had to do was to follow it like a recipe…wouldn’t everyone be playing in the NBA Finals, making billion dollar deals, or designing rockets to take us to Mars?

Sorry to burst your bubble. There is no formula. And there never will be one.

So how do you become world class?

The path from good → great → world class is highly individualized for each person who attempts the journey. It depends on the life experiences you’ve had, your willingness to put in the daily work needed to get better, and the strength to pick yourself up each time you fall flat on your face along the way.

At Tribe of Five, we don’t have a formula for you to become world class at anything. We believe that is entirely up to you to figure out and something that no one else can do for you. That could mean writing your own novel, launching your own company, building your brand, or anything else. It’s entirely up to you to define what it means to be world class.

But, we can help you get started. Our mission is to help you go from good → great, so that later, you have the opportunity to go from great → world class.

Climbing your own version of Mt.Everest

If you’ve ever read about what it takes to climb Mt.Everest (here is an entertaining 6 minute YouTube video if you want to get an overview), you’ll know that on any particular day of the expedition, each climber is entirely focused on what it takes to get from one basecamp to the next. They don’t fixate on the summit attempt. Instead, their energy is devoted to get through four different basecamps before even facing the possibility of standing on top of the world.

Even though we won’t be able to directly help you summit your own version of Mt.Everest, we know what it takes to get you up to basecamp. Our goal is to arm you with the tools you’ll need and a network of like-minded go getters to help for the rest of the climb.

For us, getting to basecamp is the most important part of the journey because we believe that every single person has what it takes to get there. Unfortunately, most people don’t make the trip, and it’s not because they fall off along the way. It’s happens because they don’t ever take the first step.

How do you get to basecamp?

You can’t buy a ticket to get there. And there is no way to RSVP for a spot.

But, any person who is willing to work for it can get to basecamp.

The price of admission is simply to shed bad habits and pick up good habits.

And this is where Tribe of Five comes into play.

Habits and routines…seriously?

What we know is that virtually all uber-successful people have good habits and routines that they’ve built up over time. They read. They meditate. They journal. They continuously learn new things. They consciously get outside of their comfort zone. They take responsibility for their own happiness. And most importantly, they understand the importance of environment and surround themselves with like-minded people.

We could keep going, but you get the picture.

These baseline habits and routines allow the Elon Musk’s, Warren Buffet’s, and LeBron James’ of the world to excel where others fall short. Over time, this becomes part of their secret sauce to go from great → world class.

Don’t believe us? Check out what Tim Ferriss identified by interviewing hundreds of the world’s top performers (3 minute YouTube video).

None of these things should come as a shocker to you. Our bet is that you know what you need to do to get from where you currently are to the next level. Yet, we’re also confident you aren’t consistently following through with action.

You know you should read, and yet you come home and habitually turn on Netflix and binge watch tv (the average American watches 4.3 hours of tv per day).

You’ve heard co-workers talk about the benefits of meditation, and yet each time you have a break, you find yourself mindlessly scrolling through Facebook (as of 2016, people spent an average of 53 minutes per day on Facebook products).

You know you need to start, and yet keep telling yourself that tomorrow is the day you’ll do it.

Does this sound like you?

If this sounds like you, that’s a good sign (believe it or not)! You are already aware that you need to put in some work to get the next level of life (ie. good → great). We want to congratulate you because you are already significantly ahead of the people who are oblivious to their shortcomings and unwilling to entertain the possibility.

Now, you just need to put that plan into action.

There are two options to get started

(1) You can will your way and get started today, and then consistently lean on your own motivation and discipline to help you stick with the journey to test drive new habits.

(2) You can tap into the power of the tribe and work together with other like-minded people who have committed to go on the same journey as you. Along the way, you’ll get support, camaraderie, and experience the benefits of team work. And in return, you will inspire your tribe to stay accountable and make progress too.

Both options work and each will point you towards basecamp. In our opinion, one is a harder path to take. It’s up to you to decide if you’re willing to entertain the option that working together with accountability buddies can help get you there faster.

If this sounds like a good idea to you, then we’ll see you on Tribe of Five! Your first 30 day challenge will always be free so you can be confident that this isn’t vaporware.

And if accountability buddies don’t sound like your thing, we still want to urge you to get started anyways and try out some new habits and routines. If you ever change your mind, you‘ll always have a free 30 day challenge waiting for you.
