ELECTION OF CAREER
I know it’s difficult for a lot of people to choose a career. I experienced it. Therefore I think that I can in certain way help those who are right now in this difficult situation.
It’s damn easy to say “you only have to choose what you like” The reality is that that’s is impossible. All careers are unknown to highschool students. Those who say that they chose x other y career because they liked them are lying!!! How can someone like something that he doesnt know??? It’s impossible. Just someone that has already studied an ingenieur and has ended it, can say wether he liked that career or not. There may exist interest, but that’s not the same as to like sth.
Then your other option is to choose a career that gives a lot of money, because a career is a preparation for a formal work. In fact there exist careers in which someone has good chances to win some money. There’s a problem in that idea. Someone can win a lot of money without having to study, other person can study a not popular career (like philosophy for example) and also win a lot of money. Lawyers and doctors win a good amount of money for an average job without too much risk, meanwhile those who study a impopular career or don´t study, have a chance of winning a lot of money also if they put dedication on it and have a bit of luck. The advantage for a “good ”career is security of succeed. The advantage for adventurers is the emotion of adventure and the gladness of choosing sth because one likes it and not because it´s a tool in order to achieve anything else.
The other option is to choose the career in which one is good at. With tests it’s quite some easy to define the best option for a student according to his abilities. There’s also a problem with it: the fact that someone is good at something, doesn´t make that someone likes it.
My personal experience:
I didn´t know what to study. The school tests said that I was good at maths and at language (not english :v), but that my interests where damn too insufficient for everything. I had more than a hundred of options (really). For a moment I wanted to stop studying and just work in whatever, but then I realized that that was the same as to run away from myself. With confidence I took a decission and started to study a career, not confidence inthe career, but in myself.
My best recomendations are:
- Investigate the careers with anticipation, not just one week before having to choose the career!!!!!
- There’s always the option to abandon the career later.
- Remember that you have a family that supports you not matter what. If your family doesn´t do that, than you have friends. If not, then trust that the world trusts in you :D
- A career won´t make you succeed in life, just your dedication, effort and love for yourself and for the world.
- Don´t be afraid of choosing a career without knowing exactly why you chose it. You can discover later on that it’s amazing and you like it.
