2015 Year in Review

Here is a list of lists that superficially catalogs my activities of the past year while leaving out everything of significance. Happy new year!

Reading List

I made my way through 54 books in 2015 (it averages to about a book a week but my secret is binge reading whenever I’m traveling, especially long-haul flights). If I had to call out any significant themes in my reading this past year, the primary was that of the Black condition; and a secondary was that of personal growth and a maturing of morality and life philosophy.

Travel Log

I racked up more than 50,000 miles in 2015 and I somehow still don’t have status. I’m definitely doing it wrong.

New York City, for Galentine’s Day and adventuring with a friend
Washington, DC, for a stint with the U.S. Digital Service
Austin, for SXSW
San Diego, to keynote the OLP Women’s Symposium
Tahoe, for the Mayfield Fellows Program 20 year reunion

New York City, for the WIRED Business Conference
Banff, to hike the alpine wilderness

Delaware, to be a bridesmaid in my college roommate’s wedding
Singapore, for another college friend’s wedding
Indonesia, because I was already in the region

LA, because why waste a long weekend
Philadelphia, for the Forbes 30u30 Summit
Houston, for Grace Hopper
Santa Fe, for a girls’ weekend
Miami, for Summit at Sea
India, for another college friend’s wedding

no filter! just very blue lighting

New York City, on a whim
Morocco, kind of not entirely on a whim but certainly very last minute

Media Highlight Reel

Sometimes I mind my own business and do my engineering thing. Other times I get caught up agitating for more diversity and inclusion in tech.
