The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special movie review

IN A NUTSHELL:

James Gunn directed and wrote this fun edition of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. I love this franchise!

True Guardians of the Universe fans, like me, can never get enough of this fun Marvel franchise. It’s my favorite of the MCU.

The short story is about Star-Lord, Drax, Rocket, Mantis, and Groot, who engage in some spirited shenanigans in an all-new original special created for Disney+.

THINGS I LIKED:

• The movie starts and ends with an animation, then gives us the actors we want to see and love.
• The cast from the movies we get to see and hear in this includes Chris Pratt, Pom Klementieff, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Karen Gillan, Sean Gunn, Michael Rooker, and Maria Bakalova.
• Kevin Bacon! Yes! We get to hear him sing too!
• As expected, there’s lots of fun humor, both spoken and visual.
• We get to see lots of interesting characters as Extras.
• Fun fact: The actor who plays Santa in the movie, David Moskowitz, was born on Christmas!
• It’ll put you in the mood to do something special for someone you love for Christmas.
• Keep watching the final credits until the very end for another cute clip.

THINGS I DIDN’T LIKE:

• Groot looked weird. He looked like Korg, the big rock guy on Thor.
• We’re told Peter Quill is sad because Gamora is away, but we’re not told why. The result is we don’t get to see Zoe Saldana in her role.
• It was just way too short! I wanted more!

TIPS FOR PARENTS:

• Lots and lots of alcohol.
• Some violence
• Someone gets kidnapped
