Everyone knows San Francisco, Bali or Sydney. But for a more personal and yet just as incredible experience, we picked some of our personal worldwide highlights off the (totally) beaten track. All of these places have been visited by one of our founders and come with high recommendations…

Transnistria (or Transdniestria)

Walking through Transnistria’s capital Tiraspol means walking through the past. Not any past, but the glorious communist one. Transnistria, according to international law part of Moldova, declared its independence after the fall of the iron curtain in 1991 and retained its Soviet charm until today. With its own brandy distillery you will find Europe’s cheapest brandy (2.5€ per bottle).

Taganga, Colombia

The lost city trek in Colombia is definitely a jewel among the treks world wide, lesser known and yet an amazingly beautiful pre-hispanic Colombia can be experienced in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. Furthermore, beautiful corals and plenty of fish can be seen right by the shore.

Nagorno-Karabakh

Nagorno-Karabakh is a special place. Similar to Transnistria, Karabakh officially belongs to Azerbaijan. However, its population are almost only Armenians. Amazing hiking opportunities or simply great food make every stay in Karabakh unforgettable.

Vanuatu

One of the most remote places on earth, hard to get and yet stunningly beautiful, travelers should know about Vanuatu. Where else can you jump from a tropical coral-filled blue hole into a truck to climb up an active volcano spitting out lava?

Esfahan, Iran

There are moments and impressions of cities that will stay long with you and your visit to Esfahan is definitely one of them. The large Naqsh-e Jahan Square is one of the most beautiful places one will ever see and it is one of the richest collections of majestic buildings in the islamic world.

Huacachina, Peru

Several hours away from Lima, the mystical oasis of Huacachina flurishing in the middle of the driest place on earth. It offers the opportunity to extraordinary adventures and will guarantee an amazing time.

Tana Toraja, Indonesia

When most people hear Indonesia, they will not think of Tana Toraja on the island of Sulawesi. Life slows down in this area of rice terraces and boat shaped roofs. Especially, funeral ceremonies seem to be out of time and are a once in a lifetime experience.

Brugge, Belgium

There is a reason that Brugge is called the “Venice of the north”. This marvelous medieval city is one of the lesser known jewels in Western Europe. An epic atmosphere lets you enjoy every second.

Cricova, Moldova

Cricova hosts one of the biggest and best preserved wine cellars in the world with a total of 120km underground tunnels dating back to the 15th century. A wine tasting after your visit is an obligation and heaps of fun.
