Faisal Mosque

Another famous landmarks available in Islamabad is Faisal Mosque. Whoever visits Islamabad must discover this place. Turkish architect Vedat Dalokay provided the design of this mosque. The design of the mosque is different from the traditional one. The whole interior and architecture are somewhat contemporary and unique.

This mosque is without a dome, which is the design’s standing point. It is located at the foot of the Margalla Hills, and if you go to Shakar Parian, you will see this mosque in the center of the whole city- a spectacular view.

The mosque’s name is given after Saudi King Faisal bin Abdul-ul-Aziz. Inside the mosque, you will find a spacious 5000-square-meter prayer hall that has distinctive concrete structure and eight sides.

The insider design is an inspiration from the traditional tends of Bedouins. This hall is very big and offers praying space to 100,000 worshippers. Four minarets of the mosque are almost 88 meters high. They are designed as the four sides of Cubic Kabba- the most important mosque of Mecca.
