The only item I would add is the narrative of the “poor white man” — because they haven’t benefited from the racist system, it doesn’t exist. Some like Dylann Roof, go further to blame minorities because they aren’t successful. My experience (subject to lots of sampling error) is that these exceptions to the rule are used as examples that a systemic racist system doesn’t exist. We set aside their lack of education, motivation, and any real personal efforts to improve themselves.
