Support New England Farms & Get a CSA (List)

2017 Farm Share Fair — Arts at the Armory, Somerville, MA. Taken by me!

My 2017 new year’s resolution is to make something new every week using as many local ingredients as possible. Being a newbie cook, it started off as a pretty daunting adventure. But, since one of my job perks is free greens (we’re hiring!) and I’ve got some amazing farmers markets around me, I quickly got inspired.

The key has been planning and routine. This is a whole other post for another day, but like a lot of other folks, if I don’t have the right ingredients at home for a recipe it’s way easier to get take out. So, on Thursdays / Fridays I’ve bringing home greens from work and figuring out a recipe that works them in. On Saturdays, I’ve been stopping by 7ate9 Bakery, the Somerville Winter Farmers Market, and M.F. Dulock’s to pick up anything I might need to supplement. Then on Saturdays / Sundays, I’ve carved out time to make food for the week.

Lucky for me — and all y’all — last week when the winter market closed, there was a Farm Share Fair in Somerville that had many New England-based farms offering all kinds of farm shares. A few friends couldn’t attend, so for the love of them and farms and buying local, I pulled together this blog post to encourage people to buy a CSA (or multiple — helllooo chocolate CSA). Not only will you be supporting some wonderful local farms and small businesses, but I believe that you’ll get inspired by their food as well.

If I’m missing anyone from that evening, or if you’ve got a farm that you think I should add (New England-ish), please let me know in the comments! Also, I know farms aren’t always the best at marketing themselves, so please share this or at least post on the socials linking to your fave farm.
