I took an Artificial Intelligence course in college, where I vaguely remember doing some maze solving algorithms. In retrospect, if I had looked at Dijkstra’s shortest path algorithm and breadth-first search one day before my interview, this would have been a trivial problem to solve from memory, but that’s besides the point.

I have to wonder if the really right answer would have been…it’s been a while so let me look it up quickly and then solve. In reality, that’s how stuff works. I don’t remember all the tricks I’ve learned for one tool or another, but I sure can look it up and use it efficiently.
