If you’re not 100% sure about something, choose to believe the positive side of it, because at least the positive side will help you. We all know the quote “everything happens for a reason.” Obviously, we don’t know if everything happens for a reason, but it’s better than believing that everything happens for no reason! If you adopt the latter and tell yourself “we broke up for no reason” which is vaguely similar to saying “right person, wrong time”, your next relationship will not be any different (unless you’re lucky, but why depend on luck when you don’t have to?)
