The Maldives, a tropical shelter of pristine beaches located in the Indian Ocean south of Sri Lanka, is an archipelago, out of which only a few are occupied. 1. Male Island

The capital city of Male is both commercial and financial. Seat to the executive and legislature, this city is a tourist favourite as well. Travel to other islands in the Maldives is also quite feasible from Male. HP Reef: — Located to the north of Girifushi in North Male Atoll, is HP reef also known as Rainbow Reef because of a plenitude of colorful soft corals. 10–15 minutes by speedboat from Girifushi will take you there. HP Reef is not to witness strong currents all year round and hence a lot of precaution needs to be exercised while diving here.

Fish Head: — Mushihasmingli Thila, situated in North Ari Atoll, is one of the top 10 diving sites in the world, deriving its name from the plethora of marine life that one can observe at this popular spot. Initially a shark feeding spot, the Government has now declared it a Protected Marine Area. Having the characteristics of a Thila, this site is known for underwater caves, black corals and undersea rock formations.

Banana Reef:-Located west of Farukolfushi, Banana Reef is shaped like a banana. It has a bit of everything such as cliffs, caves, coral growths; sharks and grouper; and prolific reef fish, including Jackfish.

3. Artificial Beach

It is one of the most beautiful and only human-made beaches in the Maldives and for a good reason. Breathtaking views and a pleasant climate, this beach, shaped like a crescent, it has earned its spot as one of the most popular and liked tourist destinations. At first look, the beach does not appear to be an artificial. Even though the water is not deep than the natural beaches, it is a famed swimming spot for the locals and visitors alike. An abundance of lounging areas, cafes and barbecues for the food speciality, and a superfluity of water sports for the adventurous, the Artificial Beach is amazing in every aspect! Moreover, it is an exciting hub for fun-filled cultural activities which include, but are not limited to, colorful carnivals, live music concerts, and parades.

4. Hulhumale

What makes this Hulhumale so different from the many other islands in the Maldives is the fact that it was not created by forces of nature but artificially by creative minds. The purpose of the island was to reduce the amount of overcrowding in Male, Maldives’ capital city. The result was a beautiful green island which despite its artificiality, looks more natural and mystical than most islands in the Maldives, especially that of the concrete jungle of Male.

5. Muleeage

Muleeage or teh Presidential Palace is the residence of the President of the Maldivian republic. Situated right opposite to the Hukuru Miskiiy, in the capital city of Male, Muleeage has been home to four presidents till now. Earlier the Theemuge used to be teh Presidential Residence.The architecture of Muleeage is representative of architecture during the colonial era. It was built by Sultan Md Shamsuddeen III. It can only be viewed externally, visitors are not allowed inside.

6. Vaadhoo Island

The Sea of Stars marvelis the name given to the dazzel waters of Vaadhoo Island when they glow a brilliant blue under the moonlight. The sea is said to glitter and glows in such a manner that it reflects the stars beneath which the waves lap. This event occurs due to the various algae that can be found in the sea and glow in the cover of the night. Although this wonder is more of a self-preservatory gesture for the fish, the light emitted in the sea is almost mesmerising. When visiting the Vaadhoo Island be sure to venture to the shores for a midnight stroll and look upon the glowing sea that will not only be an imprinted in you’re brain forever but will also give you some great picture shots for you’re social media platforms.
